Quotes To Live By

Hi everybody.  I made my Godmother a gift for her 70th :)  I could've ordered something from Harry and David's or Wolfermann's, or maybe a special bouquet from Proflowers, but I thought this would be SO much better, and ya know what?  It was. When I spoke to her on her day (the 16th) she was so happy with it, and said the quotes in there brought tears to her eyes.  I collect all these witty little diddies on Pinterest and have amassed quite a collection of quotes.  That place is so amazing!  I love Pinterest and all the things you find on it.

I made the album out of toilet paper rolls.  The cover is matchbook style which I got from Ginger of My Sister's Scrapper.  Just click on her title for the link to her channel.  All in all, most of the album and binding techniques you find out there now are either from Laura Dennison or Kathy Orta.  Each artist tweeks them to fit their own taste and needs, but all of these gals have tuts on their channels on how to do various albums and bindings.

For the cover I used paper from the DCWV Tattered Time Stack, and the pages were Kaisercrafts Timeless paper pad.  Inked the edges with Distress Vintage Photo and Black Soot, some stickling here and there, coupled with fussy cutting and page distressing and it made for a really nice gift.

I made the card with Prima's Pastiche collection.  The quotes I printed out on cardstock then cut them out distressed and inked the edges, then adhered them to tags. On the box, I used some metal from my stash, a little crown and clock, butterfly printouts and some dyed seam binding threaded through eyelets so it can be tied closed.  Cool beans :)

I find my scrapping is like my reading.  It ebbs and flows, what I'm in the mood to do at that time, read a romance or mystery?  Do a layout or mini?  Hey that jives :)  At one point I was mini-album obsessed! Hadn't done a layout in like a year, and now, I find that I am back to layout mode, though not as drastic as not wanting to do albums anymore, just finding I get a bit bored since I tend to be on the slow side with my creating and if something is taking too long I get antsy.  Layouts are almost instant gratification.

Anyway, can you believe it's the first day of Fall!!?!!  What the heck, time is moving at record pace. My kids are in school for a month and a half already!

Thanks for stopping by friends, have a great week :)

  5. I see butterflies from Pinterest too, isn't that place addictive? LOL I love it!! What a gorgeous keepsake, and I bet she was thrilled.... quotes are a perfect way to make a really special album and I'm so glad she loved it (and no doubt will treasure forever). This really is a special project, I adore it. I find my tastes for creating all over the place at times, if and when I get the itch, I can have several mini's on the go at once as well as LO's.... hope you have a good weekend ... won't be long and it will be here.

  6. What a stunning mini and a perfect gift!
I also find making gifts a little nerve-wracking....it's such a relief when the recipient sees the love and sentiment put into it!
