Who's The Boss?

Hi friends, back again with my second guest design post for Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog! Have you all moseyed on over there yet?  Yes, awesome! No?  Well hey, what are you waiting for?  Go skedaddle, click the title it'll open in another window so you can peruse here and there at the same time :D  I've been tooting the horn for CHA so that you can dig into that old stash you forgot you had, so get busy :D

This month's second challenge is a salute to embossing. Embossing folders, heat embossing, embossing paste, embossing punches, you get the picture.  I just know you have some kind of embossing something in that outta control stash of yours.  Do a little, do a lot just do it and enter your piece in this challenge, and possibly win a prize :)

My layout features my granddaughter Aelyn when she was a wee little pixie.  Literally, she was a pixie for Halloween in 2006.  I love this pic of her and decided to go to town with the lovely July Swirlydoo's kit of the month, Celestial Summer.  Wow what a kit, it featured Blue Fern Studios gorgeous Ombre Dreams paper line!  Perfect for a dreamy fairy fantasy.  Lovely Petaloo flowers and these adorable resins from Prima.  Off the chain friends!

I've also did a step-out so you can see a bit of the process. Oh, and guess what, my tri-pod has mysteriously returned. I found it in the laundry room, so hopefully soon, I'll be doing videos again.

I really love Lindy's embossing powder.  Their selection is amazing, they have so many colors it's almost too hard to pick just a couple.  After painting my chippies with gesso and spraying with Lindy's mist, I then heat embossed with their powder.  It comes just gorgeous.  What a beautiful effect it gives.  This white powder heats to a clear gloss so your treatment isn't hidden, which I love!

Here is the finished piece -

I used all the flowers from my kit, as well as some from my stash which I embellished a bit more for effect, The chippie title came in from the alpha chippies in the kit. I did the same thing to the alpha as the heart frame.  Gesso, mist then emboss. I used a pretty purple butterfly I bought a couple of years ago at the Scrapbook Expo and the green flourish was bought there too, maybe at the same time!  I had a small piece left over and thought it went perfect there. The little resin fairy I used some purple silks acrylic that was in the kit, then gesso'd then glued the wing tips and dipped in glitter.

After misting my leafy flourish, I then heat embossed it with a beautiful green powder that made such a pretty sheen on it.  The little round dew drops I made myself with my hot glue gun!  Some came in the kit, but I wanted a clear sparkle so I made my own.  I will be doing this some more.  Why spend if ya don't need to?

Beauties

Hi there!  I'm here to share a layout I did for CSI challenge #131 and it's called Beauties. Click on the title to go right to the case.  This was a fun one for me.  With summer in full swing, I figured I'd take advantage of it and showcase my daughter Sophia and granddaughter Aelyn in their bathing beauty finest.  Notice Miss Sophia's gorgeous blue hair in the pics!  This challenge included a sketch from the ever talented Emma Stafrace of Page Drafts.  Please give her blog a click to check out her awesomeness!  The gal really is bringing back the mojo one sketch at a time!  She has a gallery chock full of em.

Here is the CSI case file -

The sketch if you want a close-up view -

Now, using five pics in a layout is a first for me, I've used two and three at the most so this was a stretch of my photo grouping and the pics I chose were perfect!  Check it out -

Lots of beachy feel going on here!  The paper is from 7
Dots 9th Wave line.  PERFECT!  I used clear gesso so my misting and painting wouldn't cover up the paper completely.  Did a small bit of texture paste and masking in small circles. Sometimes I like keeping the integrity of the paper there and not lost under what can be overkill of medium.  I cut the edge of the paper in a wavy line to mimic well, waves :) Distressed and inked the edges.  I cut a square out of the matting paper so I'm not wasting paper that isn't seen.  I use the extra for something else.  In this case, matting for the pic. Stash stuff in the burlap and the seaweed like stems.  I got those at the expo maybe two years ago. I popped up the pic and  matting with foam dots, the painting and misting underneath was blended with a paint brush dipped in water.  A smattering of the pretty sparkly dots to mimic bubbles.

Let's see, got the scheme with all five colors in the paper, paints and mists. Two pieces of evidence, yup, the wet medium of gesso, texture paste, mists and paints and string. Testimony, yes, I journaled on the back of the two tags peeking out of the pic there about an outdoor activity of...THE BEACH!  It says -

There was a time when I hated the beach.  Not anymore!  Now we love to pack a cooler and head down to Newport.  We can spend hours there just chilling.  Sophia can stay in the water forever! What a wonderful time.

My friends, I'd say this case is cracked!

My Sophia is growing up!  She starts high school this year and my granddaughter is right behind her going into eighth grade!  I can't take it!  How trippy is it for me, well look at this pic of my sweet baby Sodie holding newborn Aeylyn -

Time waits for no one, enjoy each day with love :)  Thanks for coming by,

Tag You're it!

Hi friends, this post is a special and exciting one for me as it's for my guest design spot on Craft Hoarders Anonymous :)  What a great challenge site Gloria Stengel has put together here. It gives us the great opportunity to raid our stashes for the goodies to create with.  As papercrafters we are hoarders by nature, seeing a potential piece of art or embellishment in everyday objects, never mind the actual goods we purchase.  Give her site a click and check out what fun you can have, and add the opp to win, well, more stash goods! lol

This is challenge # 11 and it's called Tag You're It!  Here's my tag -

I used a combo of G45's Once Upon A Springtime and Botanical Tea collections for the tag.  I created a pocket on the bottom third of the it to put BT's notecards in, and my flowers are made from the Heartfelt Creation's stamp collection and die, then I dipped them in Utee for a glass like effect. The butterflies are from a printable I have. Butterflies are one of my most fave embellies next to flowers :)

Product List

Graphic 45 - Once Upon A Springtime, Botanical Tea
Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
Heartfelt Creations Stamp and Die - Sun Kissed Fleur pre-cut set HCPC-3533
Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays - Clam Bake Beige, Ramblin Rose Pink, Alpine Ice Rose, Cotton Candy Pink
Utee
Butterfly Printables
Stickles - Yellow, Purple
Flat Back Pearl - White
White Ribbon

I hope you like it, I certainly loved making it.  Tags are small, yet they pack such a punch.  Love them! I'd like to thank Gloria for this wonderful opportunity. Now go check out Craft Hoarder Anonymous!

CSI Case File No. 130

Howdy there friends and a happy Sunday evening to you! Hope you're all doing well, keeping cool and enjoying the lazy days of summer.  Today I come with a CSI challenge.  Do you know of them?  It's run by Debbi Tehrani and it has a really interesting premise.  You get a case file and you have to crack it.  Hhmm, what does that mean?  Well you get a color palate, evidence and testimony to solve your layout with.  It's fun, but I'll be honest, this is only my second go at it.  I love all the cases, the prompts are always fun, the colors are always pretty, but I just never get to it for whatever reason. Not this time!  The colors and theme moved me so because of my dad and my love of country and patriotism.  Check out the case, oh and of course, just click on the challenge title to go right to it.

Isn't it fantastic!  It screams 4th of July :)  I really employed a stash raid for this baby, using Authentique, Creative Imaginations, and Bo Bunny's past patriotic lines, combined with some K and Co borders I snagged from Mike's gosh, at least 3 years ago on clearance.  Here it is -

I did a bit of fussy cutting of the stars from Bo Bunny, some punching of stars with gray metallic paper, splats with Lindy's lots of fun.  Let's break it down, colors, red, lime, white, gray, blue are all there in the paper, stars, embellies and such.  Evidence needed is at least two, I've got it covered with the flag, splats, stars, and ribbon.  Testimony is patriotic holiday. Hm hmmm, yes and I journaled about my patriotism on the back.  It says -

"My dad is who taught me love of country.  He was the ultimate patriot.  He was proud of our country and loved America very much."
I also put a little piece of Lee Greenwood's song in the corner there. That song is a fave of mine, it truly represents a great love of this awesome country of mine.  The pic is of my porch and rocking chair with our flag that we retired since it was beat up. I covered all the bases, and I say this case is cracked!

Product List

Authentique Pride - Triumph, Privilege
Creative Imaginations
Bo Bunny Liberty - Cut outs
K and Co Patriotic Borders
Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray - Frozen Jack Frost
Distress Ink - Brushed Corduroy
Glitter Chipboard Number

Ribbon

Now remember, stop by and take a peek at all the awesome inspo going on at CSI, you won't be disappointed!  Oh, and stop back tomorrow and see what is up, I'm a guest designer over at Craft Hoarders Anonymous!
