The rules? Use all five colors, two clues from the evidence, and one clue from the testimony. Again, this helps you spread your wings creatively and with journaling. Hurry, go see what they're all about! You won't be sorry :)
Here is my piece -
As you can see, I used the five colors. For the evidence I used four items, stripes, a heart, tied, and something that was once hot but now not ;) the felt star, arrow, brackets, and picture corners. Now, not that those pieces are no longer trendy, but felt is not as in as it once was. My testimony was five facts about the subject. Well the subject is my baby boy Santino who isn't a baby anymore and five facts for this character was easy peasy!
A few words on the style of my lay out. This is not the traditional style of what I normally would do. I was reaching for something a bit more masculine, I tend to be more frilly, shabbyesque. That said, I couldn't resist manipulating and rolling the page in two spots and distressing like I love to do. I am loving playing with texture paste and stencils, I wish I would have let it be more "free" around the edges instead of so straight-lined. This is more stark than I do, and that's ok, the purpose is to come out of my comfort zone when I create, so voila :)
I used distress ink in orange marmalade and broken china on texture paste, then spritzed it with Lindy's twinkling tinsel. The paper was two lines, Three Birds was the orange red, and the felt pieces, heart and orange button from a giant kit purchased about five years ago! The stripe was Recollections Hollywood and Vine, had that at least as long as well. The journal piece, hipster, and Be Different came from the CSI case file, and the title is Thickers.
Hope you liked it, remember to pay them a visit and thanks for coming by.
Fabulous Paula! Your little man is so cute with his 'mo'. Love how you manipulated the paper and that button ...

DeleteGreat interpretation of the challenge, Paula! You did a wonderful job, even out of your comfort zone and the layout is perfectly masculine, perfectly Santino!
ReplyDeleteThanks Court, this really isn't my style, but I figured I'd give it a go.
DeleteThis is an amazing layout, Paula! You did an awesome job with the colors, elements, and just making it a cool masculine style! Wonderful work!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria! I was trying for masculine but still kiddish. Not quite my style, but fun.
DeleteIt really does have a masculine vibe to it, and I think the distressing lends to the vibe. You would not know by looking at the layout that you were out of your comfort zone. Great job on the challenge, looks like a fun site! Love the picture of Santino. I think you picked the perfect thickers for this layout!
ReplyDeleteThis was the first time I used the thickers! Thanks Lisa it wasn't easy but fun :)
