Sharing Life...

And some of my thoughts on Dancing with the stars, but first -

Here are some pics of my Grandaughter Aelyn from her 9th birthday on Tuesday.  NINE!!  Time goes too fast.  She is a real card let me tell ya!  She had dd Desirae fix her hair and makeup so I could snap some shots.  Note the outfit change ;)  For her and Gianna's bday, we got them American Girl dolls, and on Monday I'm taking them and Sophia along with their dolls, Rebecca, Molly, and Felicity to The American Girl Doll Store in Los Angeles.  They are stoked!

Here are Gianna and Aelyn with Molly and Rebecca.

Some shots of my home, I made the door wreath and swag around it -

Here is a lo I did, and it was the HARDEST lo I ever did.  Why?  Because I scrap lifted it.  While going to lunch with hubby one day we went to a lss near him and they had these lo kits all over.  They were 18-20 bucks and I snapped a bunch of pics.  The mistake I made while doing the lo was not having everything prepped and ready to go so I had to keep referring to my phone pic for the fine details since it didn't print clear.  I really like it and originally was going to use a pic of Santino but changed my mind to the pics of Des from her sinner or saint contest with Kat Von Dee and Sephora cometics -

Those 3 red glitter brads under devil were from Lisa in a swap.  They came awesome and look like buttons!!  I used my cricket and stickles for the embellies.

I think it's hot!!!  Not exact like the original, but nice :)

Now Dancing With The Stars. Some are ticked with Brandi getting the boot.  If I was the one who picked the contestant there wouldn't be a Brandi, or Jennifer Gray, Pussy Cat Doll, Yamaguchi or Gymnasts for crying out loud, skaters and gymnasts take ballet!!  Pop stars make videos that are choreographed up the wazoo.  The whole point is to take someone with no dance background and turn them into Baryshnikov or Cyd Charisse.  I know you younguns are saying Cyd Charisse who da fuhh....Anywho, that's the real success, so Bristol should be there along with Cory duh I mean Kyle Massey, Cory is his tv character :p.  That's the real challenge.  My 2 cents ;)

Tinkering With Tim

Ok I gotta say, my scrap sistuh Lisa of Life In Flip Flops is right, hence the fact that she is a Diva ; ) she loves him, not as much as Johnny, but if she met him in person I think she'd plant a big wet juicy one right on his lips!   Tim Holtz is the mac-daddy rock-star of the scrap world!!!  I have had his book, Compendium of Curiosities for months now with only a very casual glance through at best and yesterday while eating breakfast I sat with it and really went through it.  WELL!! I loved it so much I had to get creating right away. I have several of his tools, grungeboard, grungepaper, distress inks, blending tool, distress stickles.  Sadly a couple of things I was using incorrectly.  The stickles are different than the traditional stickles.  Traditional ones have a fine point for precise placement, distress would come out in a big glob, guess what?  That's how it's supposed to go, then you use your finger to spread since Timmy says the thinner the shinier! The other was the blending tool, first off I was way to cheap with the loading of the ink, then I would place it on my paper and wonder why I'd have a rectangular ink shape on my page.  It would get somewhat lighter with blending but never go away completely.  The correct way is to start on your craft sheet then blend in a circular motion onto the project.  I'm sure Miss Lisa knew this already, I am SO late to the party!!

Of course I really need to buy a couple of other tools.  One is his craft sheet.  I used wax paper while I played, but there is no comparison.  You can wash the sheet, heat on it, blah blah blah.  I've seen it at my lss numerous times but have been too cheap, well no more next  time I'm getting it.  The other is embossing stuff.  I don't know why I've been so resistant to it, but it makes such nice projects soooo....

Here are some pics of some of the goodies -

Now, here are the pics of the tags I made.  This is my first time doing anything Tim, so bare with me, they aren't the greatest, but I had a blast and am very happy and can't wait to do more!!

These are the four.  My fave is the tree Halloween one

This was achieved with smearing the wax paper with the ink-pad then spraying it with the water and pressing the tag down.  I stamped the spider webs and tada!
This one was made with the blending tool, a combo of purple and orange then stamped.
Same technique here, smear ink pad, mist with water then press tag in.  I also did some blending too.  You can't see poor Santa's face too good, but I'll do better next time :)

I used the stickles here, but I didn't let the ink dry enough so it smudged a bit.  Next time...
You can see the shine of em at this angle

I hope you enjoyed seeing my playing and experimenting!  Have a great weekend ;)

ATC Swap And Cards

I'm in an ATC (Artist Trading Card) Swap over at Memory Makers board.  I've never done one before so this was a new challenge.  Lora gave us inspirational words to use for the cards - warm and change and here is what I came up with -

Nothing says change like time, these pics were from some glossies I'd purchased and I thought they went perfect.  Glimmer-misted page, inked and stamped with glue then glittered for that great affect.

I've always loved angels, they represent comfort and warmth to me.  Yes they can also be quite dangerous and powerful as well, but for me I thought they went perfect with the word.  I used my glimmer mist in purple and cranberry to spray the lilac paper and inked the edges with purple.  A stamp on top and embellies, voila.
**********

These are Thanksgiving cards I made from scraps.  That's what I love about card making, you get to eliminate a lot of your odds and ends ; ) !

The fall maple leaf in the first one was actually from a swap of punches that I had from Memory Makers, and the little amber leaves were from another swap that I received from Miss Courtney : ).  I used my barouque stampin up!  roller and some ribbon.  The other 2 were my trusty calendar pgs.

Some Work

I've been a bit of a busy bee, went to a small Bridal Expo on Sunday with Des and had fun.  Some great ideas, beautiful photography, delish cake and food!  So many choices, oh boy ;)

Here's some cards and such I've made -

Desirae's B-day card

Halloween cards I made for the kids and gr.kids with my Mary Englebright calendar pgs I keep.

This one I like, I used my gypsy to make the little welded florish on the top and bottom with some Halloween scrap paper I  had left.

I love those darn little calendar pics, so glad I save em!! They make cute cards.

Here's a mini-book I made of the kids. It's Halloween's past that I put together.  I used my cricut to cut the chipboard in a pumpkin shape -
