I no longer even try to figure out the why's of life, all I know is that my Daddy is gone and my heart is broken, but I persevere and think about his happy happy face, such a smile my Dad possessed, and so handsome too. He was a wonderful Grandpa and his Grandchildren adore him and miss him much.
Pictures from my Dad's 70th surprise birthday party in 2/07. He thought he was going to Aunt Toni's surprise 60th and vice versa. He didn't know we were coming, it was wonderful. The memories will be cherished forever!
We hid in the back behind everyone so he didn't see us right away. The man on the right with the gray jacket smiling is my Dad's best friend from when he was a little boy, Frank, and that is his wife Joan on the left with the gray black and white jacket. They were brothers, not friends.
Dad could cut a rug, and he loved to dance!
Mom, Dad, me and my brother Matthew standing, my brother Thomas sitting. Poor Matthew, everyone thinks he's Tony Soprano. He says "I'm not getting anything outta it!!" Heehee!
It was a wonderful party for a fantastic man. Not a day went by that your Dad did not mention his little girl, or his two son's. He loved his children and grandchildren so very much. Your Mom, my dear friend was truly the other half of his heart. Whenever he looked at her, you could see the love
ReplyDeleteShinning through in the eyes of the "Silver fox". He reminded me so much of my Dad, growled like a grizzly with a heart of a teddy bear! Tom was one of the most honest men I’ve ever met, either he liked you or forgetaboutit. He was a true patriot, he was concerned where the country was headed, not for him, but for his children and grandchildren. . I miss our chats on politics, we shared the same political views, and gee I miss his Hugh Carey story, lol. Tom, you might not be here physically but you have left part of yourself with everyone that knew and loved you. Happy Birthday Tom, Love Always, Betty & Driss
A Poem For Tom..
Death is Nothing At All
I have only slipped into the next room.. I am I, and you are you...
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name, Speak to me in the easy way which you always used to... Put no difference in your tone, Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow..
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me..... Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.....
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind, because I am out of sight? I'm just around the corner...
Thinking of you today,Paula.
