Sunshine

I'm back with another layout for More Than Words challenge. If you haven't checked them out go give a peek. Chock full of talent! This will also go into Lindy's Stampgang color challenge. Click their name for how to enter, and if you haven't used Lindy's, what in the world are ya waitin for!

Here's More Than Words inspo board

This is Lindy's color board

My layout was inspired by scrapbook.com's music challenge hosted by Amanda on the forum. I have so much fun with it! My song was Higher Love by Steve Winwood and the twist was NOT to use love in your title :)

My process video -

I loved doing this layout! This is my youngest and my granddaughters having a blast at the beach this past summer. I used 7 Dots paper which I've had for ever in my stash, then did stenciling and lots of lovely misting with Lindys. Stamping the background adds more texture to the layout. The kaisercraft clear acrylic stamp is a fave for me. The title was cut with my silhouette cameo. I cut it 6 times then layered it on top of each other for dimension. A bit tedious but such a great effect!

This was just a fun one for me. Sometimes they come together with no struggle :)

Lindy's mists used -

Mad hatter mint
Cosmopolitan pink
Fuzzy navel peach
Cockle bells coral
Clambake beige

Summer Fun!

Hi friends, I have a layout to share filled with a lot of pics! Swirlydoo's round robin challenge this month is What I Did This Summer, well we were at the beach almost every week. As soon as I heard it I knew I wanted to scrap our time there. It's really special and the kids have so much fun. We stay for a good six hours, our cooler packed with food and goodies. They can swim forever. We go to Corona Del Mar which is beautiful.

I really don't do multi pic layouts, and this is a first because I managed to pack 8 pics in friends and it doesn't look like a mess!!

Take a look -

I used the Artful Blues kit with lovely Kaisercraft and Authentique papers. The chippie is from my stash, a beauty by Creative Embellishments treated with gesso then Lindy's mist. The twist was something you've had for more than a year, and that's the cheesecloth, the twine and the shell border. I cut the title with  my cricut and the little skittles I made myself with translucent beads baked in the toaster oven :D

The pic on top of my son and daughter with just their heads out had me a wreck! I don't swim and I was using my camera like binoculars so I could see them, they were so far out there was a little fishing boat about 15 feet behind them!

thanks for visiting!

Outlander Layout and A Wedding Card

Welcome friends! Today I have a layout and a card to share with you. Over at Swirlydoos kit club there's a great challenge going on. It's excellent books! Well, I couldn't pass that up, I have a book blog for heavens sake! Have you visited Swirlydoos yet? Go check them out, what a great kit club it is, just click *HERE* for all the info, and click *HERE* for the challenge.

It's a good bet I'll be doing more than one layout for this challenge since I have a few really fave books :) but for now my layout is about Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Have you read it? Did you know that Starz has made it a series? Oh yes my friends and it is really good too! Ok, down to business, here's my layout -

I used the Spring Chic kit. What a gorgeous kit, stuffed with lucious goodies, like that pretty chippie from Creative Embellishments that I embossed in gold. The sweet little wood comb and all the flowers but for the maroon ones. I did some random punching of the edge and layered some banner cut mats under the pics of Jamie and Claire. The die cut swirls are Spellbinders Romantic vine. Lots of fun for sure.

I also made a wedding card for my cousin. I'm so lazy and should have had this done a couple of months ago. I really like how it came -

This background die from Spellbinders is just stunning. I layered it on top of glitter paper then a silver foil paper, two more times, and my quote I typed and printed up then cut with my nestability dies and edged with perfect pearls. The little butterflies were cut with the cricut.

Thanks for visiting friends! Get crafty and create,

Moments...Swirlydoos Challenge

Happy Sunday all! Can someone tell me if they figured out how to stop time yet? Summer is going way to quick, we've reached the half-way mark in my neck of the woods. Kids go back in 4 weeks, yuk. Any way, a layout I've done with a fantastic kit from Swirlydoos. Have you checked them out yet? Give it a shot. They are just gorgeous kits and Krissy packs them to the brim! Click *HERE* to find out about them.

This month's All That Flutters challenge featuring Boys Night Out, June's kit was a fun one. I really don't do the masculine layouts much, but this kit really leads you easily in that direction. The pic is my not so baby boy Santino when he was in the first grade and we went on a field trip to Riley's Farm in Oak Glen. The kids have a blast and I got great pics -

This months kit featured papers from both Kaisercraft and Bo Bunny. I used Kaisercraft's Antique Bazaar for the base mat and the pretty die cut round piece for the layout itself. I could have just used the round piece alone, but I wanted to ground it so I chose this beautiful paper. I cut a circle from the part you don't see, waste no paper friends and then cut smaller circles to mat my pics on. The little wooden butterfly and magnifying glass are from Prima's Wood Icons Archivist collection as are the little brads clustered about. This is all in the kit. Now from my stash came Lindy's mist which is slight under the pics as well as background stamping from Creative Embellishments background grid stamp and my butterfly trellis stamp from Kaisercraft. Viney swirled chippie from Creative Embellishments that I embossed with Lindy's embossing powder and leaves die cut with my Spellbinder die. The butterflies are from my printable stash that I fussy cut. The Moments stamp is from Little Yellow Bicycle words collection.

I sure hope you liked, give a peek to Swirlydoos, you won't be disappointed, I promise!

Lil Bit

Well hello again!  This has been a busy posting past few days for me!  Funny how I can go two weeks or more with nothing to share, then, BAM! postingpalooza :D  Today I have a layout I made for another Swirlydoos Kit Club Challenge, "Tell Me A Story"  This challenge was prompted through the lamenting of how scrapbooking has traveled away from it's original meaning, which was documenting life's happenings through pics and journaling.  So many of us shy away from the who what where when and why of the picture we've honored in such a pretty way, and this was specifically to bring that back.  The host, Maggi, asked for fur-baby stories as a jumping point, but anything goes.  I chose to go with the fur-baby. I used November's kit "Beloved".  What a stunner! Packed with Kaisercraft and Bo Bunny goodness, a pleasure to create with. I also used a sketch from Page Drafts.  I love Em's sketches, she really makes creating a breeze. Please give her blog a click and see all her gorgeous work.  No doubt you'll find something to inspire you!  Here's the sketch, #36.4 -

Here are the pics -

This is my ZuZu.  She is a peanut of a doggie.  A funny little Yorkie no bigger than a small rabbit.  She reminds me of one too when she's running. She was laying in the laundry basket here when I snapped these pics.  She lays on everything you put down!  Plastic shopping bags, clothes, pocketbooks.  She doesn't care, lol.  My journaling is on the two tags up in the left hand corner.  They say -

ZuZu is a little bit of a thing but she has the personality of a Great Dane. She cracks us up with the things she does. If you have a bag, backpack, package or a basket of laundry she will lay on it if she can. I was doing laundry and she hopped into the basket with my curtains. She is too cute! She is also my protector. She watches over me and is always by my side. All this in a dog the size of a large guinea pig. ZuZu was a wonderful Christmas gift from hubby. A total surprise and I can say she is all mine. I love her even when she makes me crazy with her barking. She is a cuddle bug and loves to be carried like a baby. Don't let that fool you she's tough and gives our Bruno a run for his money. Dogs bring so much love to a home and family and she has.

I cut the tags on my cricut, the butterflies and the leafy branches too. The bottom piece I used my Martha punch to make the border. A quick cricut tip in case you have this issue, for ages my fine detail pieces just got chummed up if they were small in size. I found that cutting them at a very slow speed, either 2 or 3, and put the blade pressure at 4 for cardstock from the blade warehouse dial, and on the machine or if you use a Gypsy, make that pressure 4 as well, it cuts SO much better. Use your judgement for the different paper thicknesses. Some might be very thick, like Blue Fern and need the five setting, or thin like some DCWV stacks and only need the 3 pressure. Give it a try :) I glossy accented my letter stickers for a bit more pop there. Some stickles on the butterflies and the bottom sticker for some sparkle, cuz ya know, I spread a little sparkle wherever I go ;)
